Raiders Name Kirk Cousins Starting Qb

The Las Vegas Raiders have named veteran Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback, ahead of No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak confirmed the decision as the team begins training camp.

Competition for the Starting Role

Kubiak emphasized that every position is up for competition, and the best player will play. He wants Mendoza and another quarterback, Aidan O’Connell, to push Cousins for the starting role.

Cousins was signed by the Raiders just days after Mendoza was drafted. Kubiak has noted that the ideal scenario is for Cousins to start and Mendoza to develop and learn from him.

The Raiders’ first preseason game is against the Arizona Cardinals on August 13, and they will open the season against the Miami Dolphins on September 13.
