Rachel Williams, a candidate for Wyoming Secretary of State, recently responded to a questionnaire about the challenges facing the state and her plans to address them. Williams stated that Wyoming is facing a multi-front assault on its sovereignty, communities, and wallet, citing skyrocketing property tax valuations, attacks on the energy industry, and attempts by foreign adversaries to acquire land near critical infrastructure.
Challenges Facing Wyoming
Williams identified three key challenges: property tax valuations squeezing families, seniors, and homeowners; the energy industry under attack from Democrat administrations pushing radical ESG mandates; and foreign adversaries attempting to acquire Wyoming land. She also emphasized the need to secure election infrastructure against left-wing overreach.
Plans as Secretary of State
As Secretary of State, Williams plans to utilize every constitutional lever to protect Wyoming. She will defend Wyoming resources on the State Board of Land Commissioners and the State Loan and Investment Board, cut bureaucratic red tape, ban foreign adversaries from purchasing agricultural land, and shield energy infrastructure from globalist infiltration. Williams will also fight against corporate ESG mandates that discriminate against the energy and firearms industries, ensuring Wyoming’s business climate remains free and low-taxed.
Additionally, Williams will protect the ballot box by ending paid ballot harvesting, mandating independent audits, and enforcing strict voter verification. She aims to make Wyoming’s elections hard to cheat and easy to vote.
Qualifications
Williams is not a career bureaucrat or politician; she is a tested conservative with a proven track record. Before entering public service, she served in law enforcement and earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Williams has represented House District 50 in the Wyoming Legislature, chairing the House Labor & Health Committee and leading the Wyoming Freedom Caucus. She has a perfect 100% rating from the Club for Growth and a 93% lifetime score from CPAC, and has sponsored more pro-life legislation than any member in state history.
