Firefighters in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania, recently rescued a raccoon that had become stuck in a storm drain grate, using a small hydraulic tool to free the animal.
Crews in Westmoreland County found the raccoon trapped in the grate after someone had unsuccessfully tried to free it using water and dish soap. The animal was firmly wedged in place.
First responders removed the grate with the raccoon still inside and used the hydraulic tool to cut away enough metal to release it.
The raccoon scurried away uninjured, returning to its natural habitat.
