Local Reaction
Some voters have expressed confusion over the mailers, which are designed to look like personal notes from concerned neighbors. Andrea Amole, a 46-year-old Casper resident, received one of the mailers and urged her neighbors to carefully read them before deciding their vote.
Former Rep. Jeanette Ward, who is challenging incumbent Rep. Julie Jarvis for the House District 57 seat, stands by her record on abortion and said the mailers are backfiring. Ward noted that the mailers are not from her opponent, but rather from WyoUnited, and that they have galvanized support for her campaign.
WyoUnited’s Goals
WyoUnited’s executive director, Britt Boril, said the group is targeting Freedom Caucus members because they sponsor abortion bans that she argues are unconstitutional and worsen a maternal-care crisis in Wyoming. Boril said the group’s funding comes entirely from individual Wyoming donors, with no PAC money behind the mailers.
