President Trump proposes an AI Force and plans to appoint an AI Czar

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump outlined a bold new initiative to strengthen America’s leadership in artificial intelligence. He announced plans to create an “AI Force” – a dedicated unit within the federal government modeled after the Space Force, which he established during his first term.

AI Force to protect, not hinder, the industry

Trump stressed that the AI Force will be a guardian of the sector, not a regulator that stifles innovation. “We will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry,” he wrote. “Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows!”

The president’s vision is a hands‑off approach to regulation, relying on existing criminal and civil justice systems to address any wrongdoing. He said the government will monitor the industry for bad actors, but will not impose heavy‑handed rules that could slow progress.

Economic impact and global competition

Trump described artificial intelligence as the next Industrial Revolution, comparable to the rise of the internet. He projected that AI could eventually account for as much as 25% of the United States’ gross domestic product, underscoring the sector’s potential to create jobs and drive economic growth.

He also highlighted the strategic importance of maintaining a competitive edge over China and other nations. “We are leading China, and the rest of the world, and I intend to keep it that way!” Trump wrote, framing the AI Force as a tool to preserve America’s technological superiority.

AI Czar to be appointed soon

Along with the AI Force, Trump announced that he will soon select an “AI Czar” to oversee the effort. He invited “only high I.Q. individuals” to apply, signaling a desire for top talent to guide the nation’s AI strategy.

The proposal arrives at a time when lawmakers and industry leaders across the country are debating how best to balance innovation with security. While some critics argue that a new federal unit could add bureaucracy, the administration’s emphasis on using existing legal mechanisms aims to address those concerns.

What this means for Americans

If implemented, the AI Force could coordinate federal resources, support research and development, and ensure that American companies remain at the forefront of AI breakthroughs. By positioning the United States as a leader in the emerging AI economy, the initiative aligns with President Trump’s broader agenda of promoting American industry, protecting national security, and fostering job creation.

Details on the structure, funding, and timeline for the AI Force will be released as the administration moves forward. The president promised to announce his AI Czar selection in the near future.
