Pierre Gasly Reinstated to Monaco Grand Prix Podium

Pierre Gasly, the Alpine driver, has been reinstated to the Monaco Grand Prix podium after a successful Right of Review. Gasly was initially assessed a pair of five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane, which dropped him from third to seventh place in the final classification.

Right of Review

Alpine requested a Right of Review, asserting that new information was available after the race. The review was successful, with the team providing information that the Official Timekeeper had incorrectly measured the distance between timing loops used to measure pit lane speeds.

The stewards concluded that Gasly’s car was not exceeding the 60 km/h speed limit between the two loops in question, and his penalties were rescinded. As a result, Gasly was returned to third place in the final classification, while Isack Hadjar, who had initially been promoted to the podium, was dropped to fourth place.

Alpine released a statement welcoming the decision and thanking the FIA and Formula One Management for their transparency and cooperation throughout the Right of Review process.
