Philadelphia police held a news conference Wednesday to update the public on a months‑long investigation centered on a residence in the Olney section of the city. Over one million digital images and videos recovered from the 400 block of West Chew Avenue show nearly 60 distinct people.
Women linked to the home
Investigators have identified seven women connected to the property, including five who appear injured, unconscious, or possibly deceased. Two additional women captured in the files look lifeless, though one has been identified without a public name and the other remains unknown.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said the FBI is about 30% through reviewing the files. He also noted that ten individuals overdosed elsewhere in Philadelphia, not at the Chew Avenue residence.
Allegations against the Horsch family
The home belongs to 44‑year‑old Eugene Horsch, arrested in June on unrelated charges. His late father, Raymond Horsch, a former pornographer specializing in sadomasochistic imagery, is now a focal point of the case. Law enforcement possesses a 2017 video that appears to show Raymond Horsch using a zip‑tie to strangle Nicole Fusaro, rendering her unconscious.
Other women, such as Maribel Fresses and Gabrielle Amarando, were previously identified in the digital files and described as appearing lifeless. Amarando’s mother told Action News that detectives showed her videos of her daughter alive, followed by photos that seemed to depict her dead, citing an ashen complexion and body position as evidence.
Ongoing search and forensic work
A June search of the home uncovered fake law‑enforcement credentials, drugs, a firearm, hundreds of thousands of photos, videos, writings, manuscripts, and unknown chemicals. Detectives are testing the chemicals for possible use in breaking down remains. A special forensics lab in Chicago is processing the substances, while DNA analysis continues on other evidence.
Wayne Jacobs, special agent in charge of the Philadelphia FBI Field Office, described the investigation as “very deliberate and methodical,” noting that additional searches are planned for late September with a new warrant.
Community impact
Police emphasized that no bodies have been recovered to date, and many individuals captured in the files remain alive. The investigation continues to unfold, with authorities planning to interview additional witnesses and persons of interest.
