Pet Owners Rely on Online Fundraisers

Pet owners in the U.K. are increasingly relying on online fundraisers to cover the rising costs of veterinary care. According to GoFundMe data, there has been a 54% increase in campaigns asking for money since 2022, with over $1.9 million raised in 2025 alone.

Rising Veterinary Costs

The trend comes as veterinary prices have climbed sharply, rising 63% between 2016 and 2023. This has pushed many pet owners to seek financial support to cover life-saving care for their pets.

One notable example is Oliver Cutts, who raised over $192,000 on GoFundMe to cover vet bills for his pug, Chilli. Chilli has a large following on TikTok, with over 1.5 million followers, and his owners were able to raise funds to cover his emergency treatment and specialist hospital care.

Other successful fundraisers include Cosima Pole, who raised over $7,700 for her Labrador Beetle’s emergency surgery, and Lisa Fox, who raised $11,200 to help with the costs of treating her llamas for tuberculosis.
