A recount of the ballots cast in the Democratic primary race for the District 1 seat on the Perry Co. Commission has ended in a tie. Marion businessman Donald Bennett had initially defeated incumbent Albert Turner, Jr. by a single vote.
Recount Details
The Alabama Democratic Party ordered the recount after local party officials denied a recount request from Turner. Sealed ballots from the District 1 primary election were opened and fed into voting machines one by one. During the recount, it was discovered that 35 ballots were missing, but they were eventually found and counted. Both Bennett and Turner received 398 votes in the recount.
