The Pentagon lockdown and evacuation was due to a false alarm, according to sources. Multiple floors and corridors inside the building had been locked down and others were evacuated due to a reported hazardous materials incident.
Incident Response
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated that systems within the Pentagon had detected an air quality issue, necessitating precautionary measures until the significance of the issue could be determined. The Department executed standard protection protocols, including a shelter-in-place order for the affected area.
