A beloved school therapy dog named Callie died after being left in a hot car, according to Warwick School District Superintendent Jason Reifsnyder. Callie served as a facility dog at Bonfield Elementary in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

Investigation and Response

The Lititz Borough Police Department investigated the incident and determined that no charges would be filed. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and concluded that the actions of the subject did not rise to the level of a criminal act.

Superintendent Reifsnyder expressed condolences to the students, staff, and families of the Warwick School District, stating that Callie brought joy to the Bonfield community and will not be forgotten. An active personnel process is underway, but details remain confidential.
