Pecan Park Flea Market in Jacksonville to Close After 40 Years

For four decades, the Pecan Park Flea Market has been a cherished destination for Jacksonville’s Northside community. Families have spent weekends browsing over 700 vendor stalls, and small businesses have thrived within its booths. However, this era is coming to an end as the market is set to close on September 27, 2026.

The remaining 20 acres of the market have been sold for $8.55 million to a partnership linked to the Butler family, which plans to transform the property into an automobile dealership. Vendors were informed of the closure through a letter from the previous ownership, which outlined the timeline for winding down operations. Vendors can continue to operate until the end of September and must remove their property by October 31, 2026.

Angela Herren, owner of Eccentric Leather, expressed her sadness over the closure. Having taken over her booth in 2019, she described the market as more than just a place to sell goods, but a community hub where she met people from around the world. ‘It’s hard to replace a diamond in the rough like this,’ Herren said.

While some vendors, like Ken LeBlanc of Ken’s Collectibles, are looking forward to new opportunities, the closure has left many with mixed emotions. Loyal shoppers, such as Linda and Tyrone Hamilton Jr. from Brunswick, Georgia, also lament the loss of their weekend tradition.

The market, located at 614 Pecan Park Road, will continue its regular weekend operations until its final day. Vendors with questions can contact the market at 904-379-6141.
