The public is invited to a free and family-friendly party this Flag Day, June 14, at the Sensory Garden in Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. The event, hosted by the Rachel Donelson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will take place from 2 to 3 p.m.
Patriotic Performances and Activities
Attendees will be greeted by patriotic tunes played by the Republic Symphony Band, starting at 1:40 p.m. Local high school groups, including the Central High Kilties and Parkview High School Lassies Drum and Bugle Corps, will also perform. The Ozark Mountain Chapter Sons of the Revolution Color Guard will present the colors.
Children will receive complimentary patriotic flags and gifts, and patriotic characters with face cutouts will be available for pictures. A giveaway will be held at the end of the event, providing community members with America paraphernalia, such as arm bands and American flag pins. Refreshments will be provided.
An ‘America 250! bench’ will also be dedicated, with Greene County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon speaking. The bench is dedicated in partnership with the Friends of the Garden, with speakers from the organization also expected.
