Patrick Mahomes, the two-time MVP, has agreed to a restructured contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The deal, worth $504.75 million through the 2033 season, is the first NFL contract to exceed half a billion dollars.

The contract adds two years to Mahomes’ existing deal and includes $239.05 million in new money. Mahomes will now average $63.1 million per year, surpassing Dak Prescott’s league-leading average of $60 million per year.

Mahomes has been rehabbing a season-ending knee injury and has been on the field for the entirety of the Chiefs’ offseason program. He has stated that his goal is to be ready for Week 1 of the coming season.
