Pasco County Westbound SR‑52 Ramp to I‑75 Closed Overnight Aug 31‑Sept 2

Eastern Pasco County residents and commuters should prepare for a temporary overnight detour on State Road 52. Beginning Monday, August 31, the westbound entrance ramp that connects SR 52 to northbound I‑75 will be closed each night from 8 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., with the restriction remaining in place through Wednesday night, September 2. The work schedule is weather‑dependent, so officials advise motorists to stay alert for possible adjustments.

Detour Details

Travelers heading west on SR 52 who need to access northbound I‑75 are instructed to continue past the closed ramp and use the loop entrance ramp onto southbound I‑75. From there, drivers will travel south to Exit 282, cross over the interstate via Overpass Road, and then make a left turn onto the northbound I‑75 entrance ramp. This route restores northbound access while the westbound ramp undergoes maintenance.

Eastbound SR 52 traffic heading north on I‑75 will not be affected; the eastbound entrance ramp will remain open throughout the construction period.

What Drivers Should Expect

The Pasco County Transportation Department emphasizes that the detour is designed to keep traffic flowing safely despite the closure. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the overnight hours, especially if they rely on the westbound ramp for daily commutes or freight movements.

Signs will be posted well in advance of the closure, and road crews will work to keep the detour route clearly marked. Drivers should also be mindful of reduced lighting and potential slower traffic speeds on the alternate path.

Why the Work Is Needed

The maintenance project aims to improve the structural integrity of the ramp and ensure long‑term safety for the high volume of vehicles that use this connector daily. By completing the work during overnight hours, the department minimizes disruption to peak‑hour traffic.

Officials note that all work will be performed in accordance with state and local safety standards, and that the project’s timeline may be adjusted if severe weather intervenes.

Additional Resources

For real‑time updates, drivers can visit the Pasco County Transportation Department’s website or follow its social‑media channels. The department also provides a printable map of the detour route for those who prefer a hard copy.

Residents with questions or concerns about the closure can contact the Pasco County Public Works Office at (727) 555‑1234 during regular business hours.
