Paris Haute Couture Week has come to a close, with designers showcasing their latest creations in the French capital. The event featured avant-garde gardens and singular debuts, with many designers drawing inspiration from art and culture.
Designers and Their Creations
Chanel’s collection centered on the idea of fairytales, with large twisting vines and magic beans scattered throughout. Jonathan Anderson’s collection for Dior was inspired by the work of sculptor Lynda Benglis, with colors and textures from Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Ahmedabad, India.
Rahul Mishra’s collection looked ancient and talismanic, with clothes often towering high above models’ shoulders. Manish Malhotra’s debut collection was inspired by cinema, with a cinematic sensibility and a story to tell.
Art and Culture
The event also featured a live artist, Joël Blanc, who painted the show at Chanel. The Azzedine Alaïa Foundation was also showcased, with archival fashion, books, and art on display.
Gustavo Nazareno, a Brazilian painter, had his work featured at the Opera Gallery, with pictures of Afro-Brazilian deities draped in fabrics in a distinctly couture-like manner.
