The Carolina Panthers have signed tight end Darren Waller to a one-year contract, according to ESPN. Waller, 33, made a comeback with the Miami Dolphins last year after a year of retirement. He had 24 receptions for 283 yards and six touchdown receptions in nine games with the Dolphins.
Waller’s signing creates a reunion with Panthers assistant coach Darrell Bevell, who was the Dolphins’ passing game coordinator last season. Waller has battled injuries in recent years, but he had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 and 2021.
In 95 career NFL games, Waller has 374 catches for 4,407 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was drafted by the Ravens in the sixth round of the 2015 draft out of Georgia Tech and spent two seasons in Baltimore.
