Palmer Ridge Freshmen Cheer Challenge Energizes Monument Students

Monument, Colorado – The KRKR13 Pep Rally Report highlighted a spirited showdown at Palmer Ridge High School on Friday night. Sponsored by Texas de Brazil, the event featured the school’s freshman cheer team challenging the seasoned upperclassmen in a “Bring It On” competition.

Students gathered in the school gymnasium, waving school colors and chanting slogans as the freshmen performed a series of routines designed to demonstrate both skill and enthusiasm. The upperclassmen responded with their own polished routines, creating a lively back‑and‑forth that kept the crowd cheering throughout the evening.

“We wanted to give our younger students a chance to shine and show that they’re ready to step up,” said Coach Maria Hernandez, who leads the Palmer Ridge cheer program. “Their energy was infectious, and it reminded everyone why school spirit matters.”

The challenge was more than just a display of athleticism; it served as a community‑building exercise, reinforcing the values of teamwork, dedication, and pride in one’s school. Parents and local residents filled the stands, offering encouragement and celebrating the achievements of both groups.

After a series of high‑energy performances, the judges—comprising faculty members and a guest judge from the local community—tallied scores based on precision, creativity, and crowd engagement. While the upperclassmen displayed polished technique, the freshmen’s fresh enthusiasm earned them high marks, leading to a close finish that left the audience on edge until the final announcement.

“It’s wonderful to see our younger students step up and take the lead,” said Principal Kevin O’Neil. “Events like this foster a sense of belonging and encourage our students to support one another, both on and off the field.”

The event concluded with a celebratory chant and a group photo, capturing the camaraderie that defined the night. The video of the competition, posted on KRKR13’s website, allows those who missed the rally to experience the excitement and see which team ultimately “brought it home.”

Community Impact

Beyond the competition, the rally highlighted the importance of local businesses supporting school activities. Texas de Brazil’s sponsorship helped cover costs for equipment and refreshments, demonstrating how community partners can play a vital role in enriching student experiences.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the event’s family‑friendly atmosphere. “It’s great to have a safe, fun gathering where our kids can showcase their talents,” said longtime Monument resident Susan Miller. “Events like this strengthen the bond between the school and the community.”

Looking ahead, Palmer Ridge plans to host additional spirit events throughout the school year, including a home‑coming pep rally and a senior night celebration. These activities aim to maintain the momentum built by the “Bring It On” challenge and continue fostering a vibrant school culture.

For more information on upcoming school events or to support Palmer Ridge’s extracurricular programs, community members are encouraged to visit the school’s website or contact the athletics department directly.
