Palisades Village, a 100,000-square-foot luxury retail and restaurant enclave in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, has reopened after a 19-month closure due to the devastating wildfire that destroyed over 5,000 homes and uprooted the lives of tens of thousands of residents.
Rebuilding and Recovery
The reopening of Palisades Village is a significant milestone in the community’s recovery efforts. The complex, which features over 40 curated boutiques, eateries, and experiences, has undergone extensive $100 million smoke remediation and rebuilding. Approximately 60% of its original tenants will return, while others, such as Lululemon and Saint Laurent, will not.
Rick Caruso, the billionaire businessman and founder of Caruso, has been instrumental in the recovery efforts. He has worked closely with local officials, including LA City Council member Traci Park, to bring back the community. Caruso has also been an outspoken critic of how the city has handled the wildfire and its aftermath.
The reopening of Palisades Village will feature a range of festivities, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, shopping experiences, tastings, family-friendly activities, and entertainment. The complex will also debut new businesses, including a New American grill run by award-winning chef and restaurateur Timothy Hollingsworth.
A Symbol of Resilience
The reopening of Palisades Village is a symbol of the community’s resilience and determination. As Traci Park noted, ‘We have been really excited to celebrate the return of every school, every business, every new home breaking ground across the Palisades, but I would say this may be one of the biggest developments in terms of spurring overall recovery, but specifically local business economic recovery.’
Jacqui Irwin, Assemblymember for District 42, also praised the reopening, saying, ‘This is about more than reopening stores and restaurants, it’s about restoring a place where neighbors can reconnect, families can gather, and a community can begin to feel whole again.’
