Celebrate a special Independence Day with events around the Ozarks this week. There are plenty of celebrations across the country for America’s 250th anniversary.
Springfield’s 35th Annual Old-Fashioned 4th of July Parade
This year’s theme for the annual Old-Fashioned 4th of July Parade is “250 Years Young: Celebrating the birth of the USA.” The Midtown Neighborhood Association is hosting its 35th annual parade, which will start with check-in and line-up at 10 a.m. along Drury Lane. The parade will end with a celebration in Washington Park featuring live entertainment, children’s games and an ice cream party.
Other events in the area include the Fireburst Fireworks show over Table Rock Lake on July 2, Branson Landing’s Liberty Light Up Fireworks and free summer concert on July 3, and the 50th Anniversary Fire & Thunder Fireworks Show in Shell Knob on July 4.

The city of Battlefield’s Freedom Fest will take place on July 2, featuring a hot dog-eating contest, a dunk tank, and food trucks. The Springfield Cardinals will also host postgame fireworks at Route 66 Stadium from July 2-4.
On July 4, the Dickerson Park Zoo is celebrating America’s 250th with a free admission day for active military, veterans, and their immediate family. The zoo will also host a Red, White and Zoo event.
For those looking to cool off, admission at two of Springfield’s public pools — Fassnight and Silver Springs — will be $1 or free with a canned food donation for Ozarks Food Harvest.
