Osceola County officials broke ground on the county’s first technology park this week, beginning the infrastructure phase of the nearly 40‑acre Westside Technology Park. The project, located near the intersection of Westside Boulevard and Funie Steed Road in the Four Corners area, is budgeted at about $2 million and is designed to combine outdoor recreation with technology‑oriented features.
Commissioner leads effort
County Commissioner Peggy Choudhry has spearheaded the park since its initial groundbreaking in 2024. “I am really looking forward to it coming to fruition,” Choudhry said at the ceremony. She emphasized that the county’s environmental reviews were essential before any ground could be broken, noting that portions of the land are protected.
“We want to be sure we go through the right channels, and we want to make sure we are protecting land on the outskirts of it as well,” Choudhry explained. “What people don’t realize is sometimes parks take a really long time because of the environmental and all the studies that we do as a county.”
Design input from the next generation
In an effort to make the park appealing to younger residents, county officials solicited design ideas from members of Gen‑Z. The input will help shape spaces where visitors can enjoy technology while spending time outdoors. Planned amenities include walking trails, observation areas, benches, and a dog park.
Choudhry highlighted the park’s role as a gathering place for the surrounding community. “It’s a great place because it’s in the middle of the community,” she said. “It’s the very first tech park in the Four Corners area, so we are excited.”
Future timeline
The county has not announced a specific completion date for the park. However, officials expect the infrastructure work to progress steadily over the coming months, with final construction phases to follow once the foundational utilities and pathways are in place.
Westside Technology Park aims to serve as a model for how local governments can blend modern technology with traditional outdoor recreation, providing a space that supports both family outings and innovative learning experiences.
Community impact
Local residents anticipate that the park will boost quality of life in the Four Corners area, offering a safe, family‑friendly environment that encourages outdoor activity and tech engagement. The inclusion of a dog park and ample seating also reflects the county’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces for all ages and interests.
As the infrastructure phase moves forward, Osceola County officials will continue to update the public on progress and any opportunities for community involvement.
