Orlando Sees Warmest Air of the Year

Orlando experienced the warmest air of the year so far, with temperatures hitting 97 degrees. The late start for weekend showers brought highs into the upper 90s.

Heat and Humidity

The summertime heat and humidity have been present in the area for a while, and the sea breeze induced storms sometimes provide relief from the heat. However, today the storms fired up a little later in the afternoon than earlier, resulting in extra sunshine that propelled highs all the way into the upper 90s.

Orlando was the warmest it has been all year, with a high of 97 degrees. Leesburg tied its previous high for the year of 95 degrees. The heat stretched from I-95 to I-75, with feels-like temperatures surpassing the triple digits in areas such as Wildwood and Leesburg.

Showers and Storms

Some showers were seen over the last hour, bringing temperatures down to 91 degrees in the tourist district. Winds are still funneling in from the south and west, and a sea breeze collision or two may take place later tonight.

The area is also monitoring its first area of interest for the year, which has a 10% chance of development over the next two days. However, it could start to push back towards the Gulf, resulting in a 20% chance of development over the next seven days.
