Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and HomeGoods Plan New Stores in Huber Heights

Residents of Huber Heights, Ohio, may soon have two new shopping destinations as national retailers Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and HomeGoods have submitted building permit applications to Montgomery County. Both retailers are looking to renovate existing retail spaces in the North Heights Plaza, a major shopping hub in the city.

HomeGoods Plans

HomeGoods, known for its wide range of home decor and furnishings, plans to take over a vacant storefront at 5555 Executive Boulevard. This location was previously occupied by Big Lots, which closed its doors last year after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The renovation is described as a ‘tenant improvement project,’ preparing the space for the new HomeGoods store. The North Heights Shopping Plaza already features popular stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Burlington Coat Factory, Hobby Lobby, and Five Below, making it a prime location for HomeGoods to attract local shoppers.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Plans

Just across the parking lot, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is planning to move into a space at 8284 Old Troy Pike, next to Hobby Lobby. This location was formerly a Bed Bath & Beyond, which closed as part of a nationwide shutdown of all its stores in early 2023. Ollie’s is known for offering brand name bargains at discount prices, selling a variety of products including food, toys, decor, and personal hygiene items. The renovation is described as an ‘interior tenant alteration’ to prepare the space for the new store.

While the applications are still under review by Montgomery County, the potential arrival of these stores is a positive sign for the local economy, offering new shopping options and potentially creating jobs for the community. A timeline for the approval of these applications has not yet been provided.
