Oliver Tree, a 32-year-old singer, died in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday morning. Tree had made comments about his will just weeks before his death, stating that he wanted his wealth to go back to artists, not his family.
Tree’s Comments on His Will
During an appearance on the ‘Zach Sang Show,’ Tree said, ‘I don’t believe that any of the wealth, or the things that get made from it, is mine. So when I die, my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one’s going to get a penny.’ He added that he wanted his money to ‘go back to artists’ and that he had set up a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree’s Art Grants for Baby Geniuses.
Tree had performed in São Paulo, Brazil, on June 6 as part of his world tour in support of his latest album, ‘Love You Madly, Hate You Badly.’ He was scheduled to play his next show in Lisbon on July 1. The California native was known for blending alternative pop, hip-hop, comedy, and performance art into a character-driven act.
