Jackson, WY – The Community Foundation JH is calling on families, athletes and volunteers to take part in the Old Bill’s Fun Run this Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8:30 a.m. on the Jackson Elementary School field. The event, a beloved local tradition, offers both timed races and a non‑competitive walk, with prize money earmarked for participating nonprofit organizations.
How to register
Timed‑runner registration is open now and will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11. Registrants may sign up online or in person at the event site. Please note that timed runners must be registered before race day; they will receive a bib at the 7:00 a.m. registration desk. Walkers and participants in the free‑run portion do not need to pre‑register.
Race categories and awards
Competitors will race in several divisions, each offering cash awards for the top three finishers:
- Adaptive 5K
- Adaptive 10K
- Youth 5K (under age 14)
- Women’s 5K
- Men’s 5K
- Women’s 10K
- Men’s 10K
All prize money will be donated to the runner’s chosen Old Bill’s nonprofit, reinforcing the event’s charitable mission.
Course and safety guidelines
The start and finish line sit on Willow Street, just north of the Deloney Avenue intersection. For safety, the course permits walkers, runners, strollers and mobility devices. Bicycles, skateboards and other wheeled transport are prohibited unless used as a mobility guide. Dogs are welcome if they are comfortable in crowds, kept on a short leash and owners clean up after them. No other animals are allowed.

- 7:00 a.m. – Registration and bib pickup
- 8:00‑8:25 a.m. – Nonprofit booths open, group warm‑up, color‑guard ceremony and National Anthem
- 8:30 a.m. – Race begins (Timed Adaptive, Timed Adult, Timed Youth, then Fun Run/Walk participants)
- 10:00 a.m. – Diaper Derby at the MC Stage
- 10:30 a.m. – Winners announced at the MC Stage
- 12:00 p.m. – Event concludes
Parking and transportation
Free parking is available at the Home Ranch Welcome Center lot (Cache Street & Gill Avenue), a short two‑block walk from the race site, with a three‑hour limit. Additional street parking is available nearby. Accessible parking is provided in the Jackson Elementary School lot for those who need it.
Because several streets will be closed for the race, organizers encourage participants to walk, ride a bike or use the START Bus whenever possible.
Volunteer opportunities
Hundreds of volunteers help make Old Bill’s possible each year. Community members who wish to assist can sign up at oldbills.org/volunteer. Volunteers are needed for registration, course monitoring, aid stations and post‑race cleanup.
