Oklahoma families are making their final preparations to celebrate America’s 250th birthday on the Fourth of July. Part of that preparation includes stocking up on fireworks, and stores like Sooner Fireworks are feeling the holiday rush.
Family Business Boom
For Brandon Jennings, the owner of Sooner Fireworks, the business is all about family. Jennings’ father bought the land when Brandon was 13 years old, and the family has been selling fireworks ever since. The small tent has grown to a newly opened store that now welcomes customers from the community.
Jennings said he and the store have been preparing for the Fourth of July weekend all year long. The Rockets’ Red Glare Act, which Gov. Kevin Stitt signed into law earlier this year, has led to bottle rockets being bought in a wave of nostalgia. Authorities urge people to stay safe during the holiday by reading directions, keeping a safe distance, never letting children handle large fireworks, and obeying city ordinances.
