US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner toured Pivot in Oklahoma City, praising its tiny home community and support services for homeless youth as an example for other communities.
Pivot’s Efforts
Pivot provides housing and support services for young people ages 16 to 24. The program includes a food pantry and tiny home community.
Congresswoman Stephanie Bice invited Turner to visit after showcasing Pivot’s work in Washington. Turner plans to share what he observed in Oklahoma City with other communities across the country as they explore ways to support homeless youth.
The visit coincided with HUD’s announcement of $193 million in funding to help communities expand housing and support services for homeless youth. The agency also stated that its Foster Youth to Independence program has provided about $23 million in housing assistance to more than 1,700 young people since President Trump took office.
