A fire at the Quail Springs Condominiums in Oklahoma City displaced nine families overnight, with residents sharing their experiences of evacuation and uncertainty.
Fire Response and Aftermath
The Oklahoma City Fire Department responded with 16 units and brought the fire under control in less than 45 minutes. Two buildings suffered significant damage, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced families.
Residents described the moment they woke up to the emergency. Chris Maple, who has lived at the complex for three years, said, “I woke up to banging on my door.” When he opened the door, firefighters were already moving through the building, instructing residents to leave immediately.
Another resident, Katt Grayson, expressed doubt about being able to return to her home. “The next step is like looking at seeing what else because I don’t think I’ll be able to stay here after that,” she said.
Despite the extensive damage, fire officials confirmed that no one was injured. The Oklahoma City Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
