Oak View Group to Manage New Convention Center in Valley Ranch

The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) has selected Oak View Group to manage and operate its new convention center in Valley Ranch. This decision was made by the district’s board of directors, as stated in a recent news release. Oak View Group will oversee various services at the center, including hospitality, booking, food services, and establishing global partnerships for events.

Selection Process and Expertise

Oak View Group was chosen over other bidders due to its extensive experience and proven track record in venue management. The company, which has offices in Austin and other cities across the U.S. and internationally, has previously provided services for institutions like The University of Texas at Austin and Texas Tech University. Kelley Mattlage, EMCID’s Chief Operating Officer, expressed confidence in the partnership, citing Oak View Group’s leadership and expertise as key factors in the decision.

Community and Economic Impact

The new convention center, currently under construction, is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Once finished, it will be the seventh-largest convention center in Texas, featuring a 55,000-square-foot ballroom/exhibit hall, nearly 20,000 square feet of meeting space, and 35,000-40,000 square feet of prefunction and lobby areas with outdoor courtyards. The facility will host a variety of events, including corporate meetings, trade shows, youth sporting events, expos, and galas.

Located in Valley Ranch’s Entertainment District, the convention center is anticipated to bring significant economic benefits to the local community by attracting diverse events and visitors. The partnership with Oak View Group is expected to enhance programming and boost the area’s economic growth.
