New body camera footage shows New York police officers helping passengers to safety after a seaplane made a hard landing in the East River over the Fourth of July weekend.

The video released by New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch shows NYPD Harbor Unit officers approaching the seaplane by patrol boat after it landed upright just after noon in the water between Brooklyn and Manhattan.

A Harbor Unit officer is seen on a patrol boat approaching the plane and speaking with its passengers. “You’re doing great. Watch your head… You’re doing really good,” an officer said as passengers were helped onto the patrol boat.

First responders helped eight people off the plane. Two people had minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.

It was unclear what led to the hard landing, but the Federal Aviation Administration said it caused a wing strut to snap, and that the aircraft was towed back to a dock.
