Malliotakis argues that these centers, operated by the nonprofit OnPoint, are in clear violation of federal law and have been enabled by Biden-era funding. She claims that the centers attract a criminal element and enable addiction rather than providing long-term treatment.

The Trump administration had previously ordered the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to redirect funding from recipients that operate drug injection sites or distribute drug paraphernalia. Malliotakis praised this decision and introduced a bill in 2025 to further defund injection centers nationally.
