NuLu, one of Louisville’s most popular neighborhoods, has upgraded its parking experience with the introduction of a new pay-by-hour system and designated street parking zones. The new system, implemented by PARC, aims to make parking easier and keep more spaces open for visitors.
How it Works
The new system allows drivers to pay for parking using one of three methods: parking meters, a mobile app, or designated solar-powered pay stations. To use the pay stations, drivers simply tap the screen to activate it, select the zone number, enter their license plate number, choose a payment method, and select the desired parking duration.
PARC uses license plate numbers as proof of purchase, eliminating the need for physical parking tickets. The cost of street parking is $2.25 for the first two hours and $3.35 for any additional hours, with pay-by-hour parking available between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Implementation and Enforcement
For the first two weeks of the new system, PARC will issue warnings for meter violations but will continue to enforce safety violations, such as blocking fire hydrants. The new system is part of a larger $12 million project that transformed the streetscape in NuLu, adding new bike lanes, crosswalk improvements, and a revised parking layout.
