Norwalk City Council has passed the first reading of an ordinance that could fine parents if their kids violate e-bike laws. The proposal requires riders to yield to pedestrians, use front and rear lights at night, and prohibits e-bikes and scooters on streets with a speed limit above 25 mph.
Parental Responsibility
Riders must be at least 12 years old to use the devices in public. If passed, parents could be cited for not supervising riders under the age of 14. Violations could result in a $50 fine for a first offense and $75 fine for additional offenses.
