Teens from across Northwest Arkansas gathered at the Rogers Leadership and Innovation Academy for the first “Teens in Tech” event. The event offered students a chance to explore opportunities in areas including podcasting, gaming, media, and technology.
Hands-On Experience
Students got a behind-the-scenes look at the tools used in storytelling, including equipment from the 40/29 newsroom. Ryker, a student preparing to start high school, said the experience gave him a better understanding of what goes into the work. “I think it was great,” he said. “I learned so much about storms and what’s inside of the 40/29 truck. There’s a camera and I learned about audio.”
The event was designed to give students hands-on experience and show them the different paths technology careers can offer. As Ryker heads into high school, he said the experience gave him a closer look at the possibilities ahead.
