Northport Motorcyclist 81 Dies In Crash

An 81-year-old motorcyclist from Northport died after a crash on U.S. 43. The accident occurred near Saraland Road, approximately one mile north of Northport city limits.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Roy H. Giles was operating a 2009 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle when it struck the rear of a 1998 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a Boligee man at approximately 10:32 a.m. on Saturday.

Giles was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
