Northplace Church in Wylie continued its commitment to local and global service by sending a 27‑member Young Adults team to Ennis, Ireland, for a ten‑day mission trip in July. The group, ages 18 to 25, partnered with missionaries Randal and Kendra Baird and Hope Church Ennis to organize a series of science camps, outings, and worship services for local youth.
Building on a Growing Partnership
Since 2021, Northplace Young Adults (NPYA) has met weekly in Wylie, fostering a culture of outreach and discipleship. The 2025 mission to Ireland marked the group’s first overseas service effort, and the 2026 trip deepened the relationship forged with the Bairds and Hope Church. The mission’s focus on educational and spiritual enrichment reflects Northplace’s broader goal of serving both neighborhoods and nations.
Science Camps and Community Engagement
During the week‑long camps, participants guided local children through hands‑on science activities, including microscope observations and interactive experiments. One highlight featured Jessenia Vasquez, a Northplace volunteer, leading a session where children eagerly awaited their turn to examine slides under a microscope. The camps aimed to spark curiosity while demonstrating the value of mentorship rooted in Christian love.
Beyond the labs, the team organized outings that allowed Irish youth to explore their heritage and engage in fellowship with their American peers. Evening services blended worship, testimony, and cultural exchange, reinforcing the shared faith between the two congregations.
