Dozens of long-range and short-term road improvement projects are planned across North Texas to increase mobility as the region booms. State and regional transportation planners are seeking public input to determine which projects are most needed as they develop 10-year plans to address immediate needs.
Public Input Sought
The Texas Department of Transportation is working on a draft of the 2027 Unified Transportation Project — a blueprint for more than $95 billion in funding for road programs over the next decade. The goal is to make progress on existing, high-priority projects under development, officials said.
Residents can submit comments to TxDOT via online forms through Aug. 3. Forms are available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Mandarin and Vietnamese. A virtual public hearing on the 2027 draft plan is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 29.
Transportation planners with the Arlington-based North Central Texas Council of Governments also want public input for a regional 10-year plan. They will hold a meeting at noon July 13 at the organization’s office at 616 Six Flags Drive.
The group plans to spend more than $217.3 billion for transportation improvements over the next 25 years with the North Texas population expected to reach more than 12 million by 2050.
