A North Texas community came together to honor the memory of 19-year-old soldier Isabella Gonzales, who died on July 17 in an Iranian strike on a U.S. military base in Jordan. Gonzales, a graduate of Hebron High School in Carrollton, was supporting a U.S. mission against the Islamic State when she was killed defending against the incoming Iranian strikes.
Honor Ride and Funeral Services
An honor ride for Gonzales took place at Maverick Harley-Davidson, and a funeral service was held at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. The Lewisville Independent School District, where Hebron High School is located, shared a statement expressing their deepest sympathy to Gonzales’s family and loved ones.
The city of Carrollton is planning to create a permanent memorial for Gonzales and will hold a vigil at a community church following her funeral. At a recent Carrollton City Council meeting, leaders wore black and purple ribbons, Gonzales’s favorite colors, to honor her life.
