A group of New Mexico State University alumni are making a meaningful difference in their home state by working to inspire literacy among young readers, according to the Las Cruces Bulletin.
The NMSU graduates have channeled their connection to the university into a hands-on effort to encourage reading and learning across New Mexico. Their initiative reflects a growing commitment among Aggie alumni to give back to the communities that shaped them — and to help ensure the next generation has the tools it needs to succeed.
Literacy advocates have long recognized that early and enthusiastic reading habits can open doors for children throughout their lives, and efforts like this one bring that mission directly into local communities. By drawing on their shared NMSU experience, these alumni are turning school pride into real-world impact.
The project is a reminder of the lasting ties between Las Cruces’ flagship university and the broader state it serves — and of what neighbors can accomplish when they invest in one another’s futures.
