NFIB California Advocates for Small Businesses

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) California is working to support small businesses in the state. The organization has narrowed down its list of legislative priorities to 11 key bills, which will be considered when the legislature returns from its summer recess on August 3.

Legislative Priorities

One of the top priorities for NFIB California is the repeal of the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements, which affect 32 million Americans. NFIB President Brad Close has spoken out against this requirement, stating that it is an unnecessary burden on small businesses.

NFIB California State Director John Kabateck has been meeting with small business owners and government officials to discuss the organization’s legislative priorities. He recently met with Lisa Shimkat, regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, to discuss the small business agenda.

Coastal Commission Curbed

NFIB California has also been involved in a recent court case, Shear Development Co. v. California Coastal Commission, in which the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, limiting the authority of the Coastal Commission.

NFIB California is also a member of the Public Policy Institute of California Business Council, which brings together leaders from across the state to engage in policy discussions.
