New Ramps Open as Part of Texarkana I-30 Widening Project

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced changes to the ramp system on Interstate 30 in Texarkana as part of the ongoing widening project. These changes are expected to impact local traffic patterns, and motorists are advised to stay informed about the updates.

Ramp Changes and Openings

Starting this week, several ramps along the westbound corridor of I-30 are undergoing changes. The Richmond Road entrance ramp and Exit 220B at Richmond Road are now open, providing new access points for drivers. Additionally, Exit 219 at University Avenue is now accessible.

Conversely, some ramps will be closing. Exit 222 at Summerhill Road and Exit 218 at Kings Highway are set to close, requiring drivers to adjust their routes accordingly.

Improved Traffic Flow

The I-30 frontage road system has been designed to facilitate continuous travel without the need to stop at traffic signals. This system allows for eastbound travel from Farm to Market Road 989/Kings Highway to U.S. Highway 71/North State Line Avenue, and westbound travel from U.S. Highway 71/North State Line Avenue to FM 989/Kings Highway.

For those looking to stay updated on traffic conditions and further developments in the I-30 widening project, the Texas Department of Transportation recommends visiting drivetexas.org. More detailed information about the project can also be found on their official website at txdot.gov.
