Arlington residents who love the beautiful game have even more to look forward to beyond the World Cup excitement: the City of Arlington has announced that a new community mini-pitch is coming to George Stevens Park. The addition will give neighbors a dedicated small-sided soccer and futsal-style space right in their own backyard, expanding recreational opportunities for players of all ages at the park.
The announcement, made by the City of Arlington, reflects the community’s growing enthusiasm for the sport — fitting timing as Arlington’s AT&T Stadium has served as a marquee World Cup venue this summer.
Meanwhile, the University of Texas at Arlington is building for the future on the athletic front. The Mavericks’ Men’s Golf program recently added two transfer players, signing Ed Procter from UMKC and Joseph Hayden, bolstering the roster heading into the next season. On the track, UTA Track & Field also welcomed Sydnee Collins to the program, further strengthening the Mavericks’ competitive lineup.
From new park amenities to rising collegiate athletes, Arlington continues to invest in its community and its people — on and off the field.
