New FCPS Acting Superintendent

Dr. Bill Bradford has been appointed as the new acting superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) in Kentucky, following the placement of Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins on paid administrative leave. Bradford aims to earn the community’s trust and prioritize stability in leadership across the organization.

Focus on Students and Transparency

Bradford emphasized the importance of transparency with families and staff, providing ongoing education and information to ensure everyone understands the district’s vision and goals. He also urged the community to focus on what is happening inside schools, rather than controversies surrounding district leadership.

As a parent and member of the community, Bradford expressed his deep care for providing an exceptional educational experience for all students. He believes his experience in education has prepared him to lead the district through its current challenges, including a multi-million dollar budget crisis.

Financial Priorities

Bradford is working closely with the interim chief financial officer to get up to speed on the district’s budget and become fluent in budget management. He recognizes the need to address the district’s financial issues and provide essential leadership to carry forward the vision of becoming fiscally healthy.
