New Albany Floyd County students headed back to class after summer break on Tuesday, with over 11,000 students returning to school. High schoolers began their day at 7:40 a.m., followed by elementary schools at 8 a.m. and middle schools at 9 a.m.
Cell Phone Policy Changes
School officials announced that the district’s cell phone policy, already in effect for K-8 schools, will now apply to high schools as well. Students will be asked to leave their cellphones in their backpacks and lockers, instead of keeping them on their person. The district will enforce the new measures using an “honesty policy”.
Students from Borden-Henryville School Corporation and Crawford County, Indiana, also returned to class on Tuesday.
