Neon has acquired the film ‘Artificial’, directed by Luca Guadagnino, after Amazon MGM Studios dropped it. The film, which stars Andrew Garfield as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, was put up for sale earlier this month.
Background
The film chronicles the days leading up to the 2023 firing and reinstatement of Altman as OpenAI chief executive. It also stars Monica Barbaro, Yura Borisov, and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance, with Ike Barinholtz playing Elon Musk.
Neon plans to release ‘Artificial’ this year and compete in the Oscar race. The studio has a track record of backing award-winning films, including ‘Parasite’ and ‘Anora’.
