NBCUniversal Local’s Clear The Shelters, an annual pet adoption and donation campaign, returns this summer for a 12th consecutive year. The donation campaign kicked off Wednesday and runs through Sept. 15, while the adoption initiative will be held from Aug. 1 to 31.
Partnerships and Donations
Clear The Shelters sees NBC and Telemundo’s owned stations and affiliates team up with shelters and rescues in their communities to promote animal adoptions and help raise money for those participating locations. The 2025 campaign included over 1,700 shelters and rescues across 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam.
Clear The Shelters has driven more than 1.3 million adoptions and raised more than $5.6 million in donations for participating shelters and rescues since launching in 2015. The campaign led to over 160,000 adoptions and raised more than $628,000 in donations last year — the highest fundraising total since 2020.
This year’s campaign features the return of several longtime Clear The Shelters partners, including Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Greater Good Charities, and WeRescue. Hill’s is involved with Clear The Shelters for the ninth straight year and for the first time as the campaign’s presenting sponsor.
