A recent security breach at the NBC studio in New York has led to a review of the studio’s security protocols. An intruder, identified as Andrew Truelove, allegedly snuck into a restricted area and accosted co-host Craig Melvin, hurling a racial slur at him.
Security Measures
In response to the incident, the ‘Today’ show has implemented stricter security protocols, including limiting the number of people who can accompany guests to the studio. Guests can now be accompanied by only two people, and additional staffers will be asked to remain in the green room.
The incident has also led to the termination of one security guard. NBC and the ‘Today’ show have stated that they take the safety and security of their employees, talent, staff, and guests extremely seriously and are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone who works at and visits their studios.
Truelove, the man accused of the hate crime, had a history of felony convictions and pending charges in New York. He is currently being held at a New York City jail on $10,000 bail.
