Despite this decision, the NBA has been expanding its relationship with the Middle East, including a partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism. The league has also explored the possibility of playing games in Qatar.
The NBA will instead play two preseason games in China this October, marking the league’s first time playing in China since 2019. Regular-season games are also scheduled to be played in France, England, Mexico, and Germany this season.
