Natrona County commissioners received updates on various projects during their work session, including the construction of a new Love’s Travel Stop, which is expected to open in mid-October.
Love’s Travel Stop Construction
Building Director Brad Morrison reported that the construction of the new Love’s Travel Stop is moving forward quickly, with a service conflict with Rocky Mountain Power having been resolved.
Morrison also reported that plan reviews are complete and foundation work is underway for a new power equipment commercial building in West Yellowstone near the bypass.
Wind Farm Decommissioning
Development Director Sabrina Kemper informed commissioners that the logistics for a local wind farm decommissioning project have shifted out of the region, with retired materials being transported out of state, primarily to Texas.
Grant Writing Assistance
The commissioners debated whether to spend $13,920 in unbudgeted funds to rejoin Sustainable Strategies, a grant consulting group, to help the county secure grant funding.
Health Department Director Anna Kinder emphasized the importance of rejoining the group, citing the potential to secure millions in grant funding that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
