A church that’s been closed for several years was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon west of Natchitoches. Multiple agencies responded to the fire just before 2:30 p.m. on Eight Mile Loop at Carey Scarborough Road.
Natchitoches Parish sheriff’s deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 6 firefighters arrived to find the structure already on the ground, according to the sheriff’s office. The church, St. Mark’s Baptist Church, has been closed for services for an unknown period of time.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified. The immediate cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries were reported.
